trump and the triangle of Russia, China and Turkey

Some senior government officials suggested early Tuesday that President Trump's business interests are informing his covert decisions concerning Russia, China and Turkey.

"I feel that the reason that he drew himself closely to the Russians was the Russians liked him and they invested in him. And he's made decisions that appear to favor them over that which would be our national security interests," Swalwell stated on CNN's "New Day."

"With China, they did the exact same thing," he further added. "Turkey -- he has projects on the market. When you inquire, why can he like President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan really much? Well there's a Trump Tower over in Turkey. So it does seem like the easiest explanation is the correct one -- it is money."

Swalwell's remarks came after Trump tweeted on the weekend he was working with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to rescue Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE.

The business announced last week it would stop big operations in reaction to U.S. sanctions, imposed because of its business dealings with Iran and North Korea.

Trump's which said that ZTE's failure had cost too many Chinese cuts, was uncommon for a president that has long boasted about putting "America first" and bringing jobs back to the U.S.

HuffPost reported on Monday that just days ahead of Trump announced he would operate to save ZTE, the Chinese authorities agreed to invest up to $500 million in loans to a theme park and resort in Indonesia. The Trump Organization allegedly includes a deal to permit the Trump title to the undertaking.

Trump has faced scrutiny since entering the White House because of his business transactions. The real estate mogul dropped to divest from his company empire upon taking office.

Only days after the Treasury Department declined to label China or Russia a currency manipulator, '' Trump hit at the Beijing and Moscow on what he said was a "Currency Devaluation match since the U.S. keeps increasing interest rates. Not acceptable!"

Trump said repeatedly during his campaign he would label China a currency manipulator on Day One of the presidency.
